Steel tubular manufacturer Sif said it has opened a Tokyo sales office in a move to capitalize on developing offshore wind projects in the region.

The company said in a statement that it has closely followed market developments in Japan since 2015 and, for that purpose, teamed- up with local partner Sato Tekko.

Four of the 11 sites identified by the Japanese government to have potential for offshore wind development, mainly at the northwest and southeast of Japan’s main island, are now subject to geological surveys and preparatory work.
