Norwegian oil exploration and development company Aker BP has received consent for exploration drilling on the Volund field using the Deepsea Stavanger rig from the offshore safety body, the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA).
According to an official release from PSA, the consent applies to the drilling of 24/9-P-3 BH on the Volund field in the North Sea, where Aker BP is the operator. The well to be drilled in a sidetrack from well 24/9-P-3 AH.
Drilling is scheduled to begin on 24 February 2019 and is estimated to last 42 days.
Deepsea Stavanger is a semi-submersible mobile drilling facility of the GVA 7500 type, built in South Korea in 2010. It is owned and operated by Odfjell Drilling.
"We gave Deepsea Stavanger Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) on 16 March 2017," PSA said.
