The Board of Norwegian Energy Company (Noreco) has announced that Svein Arild Killingland is to take over as Chief Executive Officer of the company group with immediate effect.

He replaces Einar Gjelsvik, who Noreco said would be available for an interim period to the firm.

Noreco said: "The Board wishes to place on record its thanks to Gjelsvik for all the hard work he has put into the company during a challenging period. Gjelsvik has shown himself to possess a great capacity for work, and the Board wishes him all the best in his future endeavours."

Killingland (57) was until recently a senior partner at Norwegian private equity firm HitecVision (2010-12). Before that he held roles in Statoil, Revus Energy and Wintershall, all predominantly within upstream oil and gas business development.

He has a degree in Economics and Management from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration.
