The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate awarded Statoil AS a drilling permit for well 6608/11-8, production license 128 in the Norwegian Sea, the agency announced on May 22, 2013.
The well will be drilled from the Songa Trym drilling facility at position 66° 07' 39.83" north and 8° 20' 12.39" east.
The Songa Trym is a self-propelled type Aker H-3 modified semi-submersible drilling unit built in 1976. Yard stay for the rig was has extended at the beginning of 2013, due to mechanical failures to already overhauled, installed and certified equipment, and late delivery of OEM equipment.The rig is now under a three-plus-two year contract with Statoil, and is capable of operating in water depths up to 1,312 ft.
Statoil operates production license 128 with 64% interest. Its partners include Petoro AS (24.5%) and Eni Norge AS (11.5%)
