Aker picks up Azeri rig job

Published

Aker Solutions has won a contract with Caspian Drilling Company (CDC) to provide a complete topside equipment package for a new semi-submersible drilling rig in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The equipment will mainly be constructed and assembled at Aker Solutions' facilities in Kristiansand and Asker in Norway as well as in Erkelenz in Germany.

Installation and commissioning services will be performed by the Caspian Shipyard Company, where Keppel Fels is the major shareholder.

Delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2016.

Aker Solutions has previously delivered drilling equipment to eight drilling rigs operating in the Caspian Sea. Two of the rigs are semi submersible and operated by CDC.

Last year the company opened a new facility in Baku to improve its offering of services in the region.
