Juliet nears production startup

The first of two horizontal subsea production wells on the Juliet field, in the UK North Sea, have been drilled and completed using Noble’s Ronald Hoope rig, partner Hansa Hydrocarbons Ltd. announced, bringing first production ever closer.

Upon clean-up, the well flowed at a stabilized rate of 63MMcf/d, being limited by the capacity of the test separator. The well has been suspended and will be hooked-up for production after the installation of the subsea pipelines and facilities and completion of topsides works at Pickerill A platform (operated by Perenco UK Ltd.) later this year.

Once the infanstructure is installed, gas will then be transported to the Theddlethorpe terminal on the Lincolsnhire coast.

Hansa said a second well is planned to be drilled 4Q 2013 with first gas also expected that same quarter. Peak production from the field is anticipated to be 80MMscf/d.

Hansa has already signed a three-year deal with RWE Supply and Trading GmbH (RWE) for its share of production from the field.

The Juliet field is located 39km east of the Lincolnshire coastline, in block 47/14b in the UK Southern North Sea. GDF Suez is operator of the field with 51.56% interest. Its partners include First Oil Expro Ltd. (29.44%) and Hansa Hydrocarbons (19%).
