Baker Hughes: offshore rig count

Published

Orphan basin map, showing Margaree well, from StatoilBaker Hughes drilling rig count for 22 Nov 2013 shows 57 rigs drilling off the US, including two rigs each off California and Florida, three off Texas, and 50 off Louisiana. This is three fewer than last week, but four more rigs drilling offshore than a year ago.

The count includes only one rig drilling off Canada this week, although four rigs are present off Newfoundland: three floaters and Noble Drilling's M71 platform rig at Hibernia.

Transocean has two semisubmersibles drilling for Husky Energy in the Jeanne d'Arc basin: Henry Goodrich and GSF Grand Banks. According to the Canada-Newfoundland Offshore Petroleum Board, the Henry Goodrich is on the White Rose H-70Z delineation well (spud 26 September) and the GSF Grand Bank is on the North Amethyst G-25 9Z development well (spud 13 October).

Stena Drilling's Stena Carron drillship is working for Chevron Canada Ltd. in the deepwater Orphan basin, 410km out from St. John's, Newf.

According to CNLOPB, the Stena Carron was used to reenter the Margaree A-49 exploration well in July, replacing Seadrill's West Aquarius semisub, in water 2477m (8127ft) deep. Stena Carron will head to the yard for scheduled maintenance in Q1 2014.
