Apache defers spud date

Published

The spudding of the Phoenix South-1 well has been pushed back by Apache until 2Q 2014, because of the company’s operational timetable including other projects Apache has in Western Australia.

JV partner, Carnarvon Petroleum said that moving the spud date also reduces the risk of cyclone activity affecting the drilling of the Phoenix South-1 well, reducing chances of exceeding a renctly increased well cap.

Carnarvon assessed the Phoenix South well as a multi-trillion cu ft gas prospect that will be drilled on modern 3d seismic data.
