Published

FKAB China has won a design order from Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry's (ZPMC) shipping arm for conversion of a 15-year-old afrmax tanker to a semisubmersible heavy lift vessel.

After conversion, the heavy lift vessel will be able to transport container cranes, offshore rigs, and other heavy cargoes. Cargo can be loaded/unloaded by roll-on/roll-off or floating on/floating off. Total cargo deck area of about 170m x 42m, can be submerged 9m below waterline.

The conversion will be carried out in a repairing shipyard in Shanghai area.

FKAB China will be responsible for conversion design including concept design and basic/Class drawings.

FKAB is an independent marine engineering company, mainly active in the marine and shipbuilding industry. It is based in Sweden, with offices in China.
