CIMC Raffles delivers Gulf Driller jackup

CIMC Raffles at Yantai delivered the jackup rig Gulf Driller No.1 to ship owner COSL, the company announced 10 May 2014.  CIMC Raffles said the jackup is expected to set out for the Bohai gulf.

The Super M2 jackup rig was designed by Friede & Goldman and by CIMC Raffles for detail and shop design, and supervised during construction by Ocean Challenger from Singapore. 

The ABS-classed Gulf Driller No. 1 measures 59.745m in length, 55.78m in width, and 7.62m in depth. Its legs measure 125m long, and it can operate at maximum of 91m water depth. It comes with accommodations for 110 people.

The jackup is the third rig delivered to COSL by CIMC Raffles since beginning of this year. The first multifunctional jackup named Guardian ESV started to work in Bohai Bay on 25 February. The second jackup HYSY932 was delivered on 16 April, discovering oil in its first drill on 4 May in Bohai Block 34.

The Gulf Driller No. 1 is owned by ICBC leasing. Guests at the naming and delivery ceremony included representatives from ICBC, Zhang Xiao, the former president; Ji Fuxing, the vice president of ICBC financial leasing; Li Feilong, the vice president of COSL; and Yu Ya, the president of CIMC Raffles.
