The Genel Energy-operated Hagar Qim-1 exploration well in Area 4, offshore Malta, has been plugged and abandoned after finding no hydrocarbons.

The well was drilled to the Eocene using the Noble Paul Romano (pictured), which will now move to drill the Nour prospect on the Sidi Moussa Block, offshore Morocco. Sidi Moussa is targeting prospective resources of 300MMbbl at a 20% probability of success. Drilling operations are expected to start in August and take 2-3 months to complete.

Genel holds 60% working interest in Sidi Moussa, offshore Morocco, and 75% in Area 4, offshore Malta.
