Aragon water wet, says MPX

Published

MPX North Sea's exploration well 9/14a-15a on the Aragon prospect in the North Sea is to be plugged and abandoned after the reservoir was found to be water bearing.

Drilling and open hole logging operations were completed on the well, in Licence P1763 in Blocks 9/9d, 9/14a & 9/15d.

Although the Upper Jurassic sands were encountered on prognosis, they were water bearing at this location, said MPX.

Drilling was carried out using the Blackford Dolphin semisubmersible drilling rig.

The partners in the P1763 license are operator MPX North Sea (20% interest); Agora Oil & Gas (UK) (32.5%); JX Nippon  Exploration and Production (U.K.) (25%); Bridge Energy (CNS) (13.5%); and Dyas Exploration UK (9%).
