BOURBON completes pipelay operation

Published

BOURBON completed laying 30 tons of submarine cable as part of the Sabella D10 project off the island of Ushant, part of Brittany, France. The cable will link the Sabella D10 tidal turbine to the Ushant power grid.

Utilizing a Falcon series ROV and the support vessel Argonaute, teams from BOURBON and Sabella landed, placed, and buried the 68mm diameter electrical cable over 2km at depths 0-60m in the Fromveur Passage to Ushant.

For this project, BOURBON provided:

•Project management and engineering

•Installation of the submarine cable and connector

•Landing of cable to the collector

•Management of various providers needed to complete the entire operation

Furthermore, a dedicated team from BOURBON’s research department will also support monitoring the project at the time of final immersion of the tidal turbine expected to occur by late June.
