Former Transocean CEO joins Bumi

The former chief executive officer (CEO) of Transocean, Steven Newman, was appointed as a director at Malaysia-based Bumi Armada Berhad effective 1 July 2015.

Newman will be an independent director, in a non-executive capacity.

Newman was with Transocean between 1994 to 2015 in various capacities,

and in various jurisdictions around the globe, including Switzerland, the US, Europe, Indonesia and Brazil. He was the president and CEO of Transocean from 2010, until his resignation in February 2015.

Newman has more than 20 years of corporate experience in strategy development, crisis management, organizational turn-around,

leadership team formation, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions and board renewal and development.

Prior to joining Transocean, between 1992 and 1994, Newman was

a financial analyst with Chevron, based in California. He also served with Mobil E&P, US, based in Colorado, as a reservoir engineer.

Newman, age 50, holds a bachelor of science, Magna Cum Laude, petroleum engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, and a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard University, Graduate School of Business Administration.
