Planned drilling at Block 12 offshore Cyprus gained a waiver from the government of Cyprus to carry out additional drilling outside of the Aphrodite area, upon the completion of the transfer of 50% of the rights of Noble Cyprus in Block 12 to BG Cyprus, according to the Delek Group.

Drilling at Block 12, which covers approximately 2684sq km in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, will now be postponed unti 23 May.

According to Noble Energy, the partnership filed a preliminary field development plan for the Aphrodite field located in Block 12 offshore Cyprus.

The partnership wants to carry out additional trial drilling outside the boundaries of the Aphrodite find.

“We are working with the government and our partners to finalize this plan to safely and responsibly develop these natural gas resources,” the company said.

Partners in Aphrodite include Noble Energy (35%), BG Cyprus (35%), Delek Drilling (15%), and Avner Oil (15%).
