PGS, TGS survey available for Canadian bid round

Published

PGS, in partnership with TGS, will offer support for the two calls for bid in the Eastern Newfoundland and Jeanne d’Arc regions issued on 7 April 2016. The partnership offers for license MC2D GeoStreamer data, and the 4550sq km MC3D-NL02-EN Orphan Basin GeoStreamer survey, acquired most recently in 2015. The majority of the NL16-CFB01 blocks, which consists of 13 parcels and a total of 29,492sq km in the Eastern Newfoundland region, are located in the western Orphan Basin.

A 3D PSTM fast-track volume is currently available for this survey with the final data imaging scheduled for completion in May 2016.

The main exploration targets highlighted by the MC3D survey in the Orphan Basin are Tertiary fan complexes, and in particular a large Eocene/Oligocene fan system which was observed for the first time on the long offset GeoStreamer MC2D data following the examination of angle stacks.

Further attribute work through a quantitative interpretation effort led by the PGS reservoir characterization group has produced further encouraging results which help to de-risk exploration in this new area.

The submission deadline for bids is 12:00 pm NST on 9 November 2016.
