A RIP Industrial Services worker died over the weekend, after falling 12m from a Petrobras platform, offshore Brazil.
According to the Sindipetro-NF workers’ union, Victor Geraldo Brito, 29, fell from the Cherne-2 platform (PCH-2), from 12m high and did not survive the impact.
The PCH-2 platform is located in the Cherne field, in the Campos basin. The platform serves the Congro, Cherne, and Malhado basins.
“The union condemns the job insecurity that has led to hundreds of deaths, mutilations and illnesses in the Campos Basin in recent years,” Sinipetro-NF said in a statement. “The most frequent victims of job insecurity are the oil of private companies in the oil sector, providing services to Petrobras.”
The incident is under investigation.
The Petrobras board is set to decide today, whether or not to appoint Pedro Parente as the company's new CEO.
The Sindipetro-NF workers' union sent a letter to the board of director at Petrobras, Luiz Nelson Guedes de Carvalho, asking that Parente not be named as the CEO of the company.
"The goal is to alert the board members to the risks of having at the helm of Petrobras a manager who in the past has caused losses of more than $1 billion to the company and to top it responds to action for improper conduct," the union said.
