Wintershall Norge has started drilling wildcat exploration well 35/11-20 B using the Borgland Dolphin drilling rig in production license 248 F in the Norwegian North Sea.
It is the latest well on the license, following well 35/11-20 A, at the same location and on which drilling started in early July, also using the Borgland Dolphin.
The latest well, approved by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, started drilling on 7 August. Both wells are at the same location in part of block 35/11, about 100km southwest of Florø and about 20km northwest of the Fram field. It is in 372m water depth.
PL 248 F was carved out of PL 248 in December 2015. PL 248 was awarded on 4 June 1999. This is the third well to be drilled within the license.
Wintershall Norge is the operator with an ownership interest of 40%. The other licensees are Origo Exploration Norway (20%) and Petoro (40%).
