Lundin green light for Barents Filicudi well

Published

Lundin Norway has been given the go-ahead to drill well 7219/12-1, or Filicudi, in the Norwegian Barents Sea, using the Leiv Eiriksson semisubmersible drilling rig.

The well about 24km south of the Salina discovery, made by Eni in 2012, in license 533.

While Eni estimated 40-50 MMboe recoverable gas at Salina, it was not deemed commercial due to lack of existing infrastructure for gas processing and transport.

Lundin is now operator on the license with 35% interest. The other licensees are Det norske oljeselskap (35%) and DEA Norge (30%).

Production license 533 was awarded in May 2009 in the 20th licensing round on the Norwegian shelf.
