CNSOPB call for bids flops

Published

The Canada - Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board (CNSOPB) has not received any successful bids for its Call for Bids NS16-1 issued on 2 May 2016. The parcels are no longer up for bid and remain as Crown land. The next Call for Bids (NS17-1) will be issued in spring 2017. The CNSOPB will accept nominations for lands to be included in this Call until 1 December 2016.

Parcels 1, 2, and 3 were located in shallow water on the Scotian Shelf, south of Sable Island and are adjacent to current natural gas production from the Sable Offshore Energy Project. Parcels 4, 5 and 6 were located south of Parcels 1, 2 and 3 on the outer shelf and slope of the central Scotian margin. The closest land points other than Sable Island are Goldboro and Canso.

CNSOPB is the independent joint agency of the governments of Canada and Nova Scotia responsible for the regulation of petroleum activities and resources offshore Nova Scotia.
