Petrofac inks Cygnus extension

Published

Petrofac has been given a four and a half year contract extension on its integrated support services contract on the Cygnus gas field.

The extension to December 2021 is worth about US$70 million and includes the provision of enhanced construction services and production supervision, as well as the existing pre-operations, operations, maintenance, engineering and commissioning scope.

Petrofac began working on the pre-operational phase of Cygnus (the largest gas field discovery in the Southern North Sea for 30 years) in 2011.

During that time the company has worked to provide a range of services within the Integrated Services Contract including the supply of competent resources, operations and maintenance services, emergency responses, maintenance management systems and training services.

Walter Thain, Managing Director, Petrofac Engineering and Production Services, West, said: “This extension reflects our ability to provide effective integrated support services that make a difference to the safety and effectiveness of our client’s operations. We look forward to building on our involvement in this project as we work towards completion of the commissioning phases and into operations.”
