Aker Solutions has won a contract to provide umbilicals for the Statoil-operated Johan Sverdrup, Utgard and Bauge developments offshore Norway.

The order entails delivery of a total of more than 40km of subsea umbilicals.

"By combining the delivery for three separate projects into one order, we are able to boost efficiency and reduce costs for the customer," said Luis Araujo, Aker Solutions'  CEO. "We look forward to working with Statoil on these important oil and gas developments."

Manufacturing will take place at Aker Solutions' umbilicals plant in Moss, Norway.

In July, Statoil has awarded Ocean Installer a contract for subsea installations and tie-in operations on Johan Sverdrup, Utgard, and Bauge.

Once complete, Johan Sverdrup Phase 1 will comprise a field center, with four, bridge-linked platforms, with 35 wells, and three subsea satellites for water injection, all in about 120m water depth. Phase 1 will include power from shore for the Johan Sverdrup field.

The Utgard gas and condensate field, which cuts across the Norwegian and UK North Sea, will be a two-well subsea tieback (one well each side of the median line, with the template on the Norwegian side) to the Sleipner facilities, in Norway, costing about US$410 million (NOK 3.5 billion).

The Bauge field development concept includes one subsea template, two oil producers and one water injection well. Kværner at Stord has been awarded the contract for upgrading the Njord A platform, into which Bauge will be tied in, as well as work facilitating the tie-in and potential future third-party tie-ins.
