Merrick partners with Energistics on production reporting standards

Samina Farid, Founder and COO (right)Houston-headquartered Merrick Systems is spearheading an effort to develop a standard for oil and gas production reporting between partners with Energistics, a nonprofit organization created to serve as a neutral body to facilitate and manage technical open data exchange, information and process standards for the upstream oil and gas industry.

Terry Kite, Product Manager at Merrick and a key player in the development of the charter for the NAPR project, commented that "There is a great amount of work spent within organizations, both in preparing data to send to partners and consuming data that is receivedon outside operated properties." Kite adds that "Too often, companies do not recognize the amount of effort because it is duplicated across multiple groups that are unaware of what the others are doing. Establishing a consistent, common format would not only make partner reporting easier, it would provide opportunities for centralization and automation."
