EGS Group, provider of survey solutions, has secured a contract to carry out a geophysical survey at Ørsted’s 1100MW Ocean Wind offshore wind project in New Jersey, the U.S.

The survey work, aimed at providing high-resolution geophysical data, will cover different areas of the wind farm.

With the development of Ocean Wind, Ørsted, the global leader in offshore wind, aims to deliver New Jersey’s first offshore windfarm and provide over half million homes with clean, reliable energy while producing 1,100MW of electricity using the latest in offshore renewable energy technology.

The survey work, aimed at providing high quality high-resolution geophysical data, will cover the different areas of the windfarm.

To fulfil the purpose of the project, EGS will use a 50m survey vessel, the “MV Neptune”, and a full spread of high-resolution bathymetric and geophysical equipment, including a hull mounted, dual head/dual swath Kongsberg 2040C MBES system as well as an Innomar SES2000 Parametric SBP and a Geo-Source sparker system.

The EGS Group is focusing on providing the growing number of US offshore windfarms projects with tailored survey solution based on the extensive experience gained globally in the marine renewable sector. The project team’s focus will be on delivering high-quality data underpinned by safe operations and low environmental impact.
