Ampelmann Scores Contract from Harvey Gulf

Friday, May 3, 2019

Dutch offshore access provider Ampelmann has secured a contract to supply a walk-to-work (W2W) transfer system for US based marine transportation company Harvey Gulf to be used during maintenance work at an oil and gas platform in the Gulf of Mexico.

An A-type motion compensated gangway system, which makes it possible for personnel to transfer safely from a vessel to a fixed or floating offshore asset in high sea states, has been mobilized on the Harvey Blue Sea vessel for a campaign that started in mid-April and will operate for 120 days, Ampelmann said.

The system was installed on an Ampelmann 10-meter pedestal, making it possible to reach landing locations of 20 meters and higher, Ampelmann said. The company will be operating on a 24/7 basis, providing the client with more time flexibility and an extended weather window.

Online ship tracking data shows the Harvey Blue Sea is currently operating near Shell's Enchilada platform.

Harvey Gulf CEO Shane J. Guidry said the company's relationship with Ampelmann will broaden the services that Harvey’s construction vessels provide.

“Today we jointly have work bid throughout the US Gulf of Mexico, Guyana, and West Africa and we look forward to providing safe excellent service (SES) to all our clients globally,” he said.

Gus DeOliveira, Americas Sales Lead at Ampelmann, said, “We are very excited about this collaboration with Harvey Gulf, as this is the first time we are working with one of the prestigious US vessel owners. Together we are offering a premier W2W vessel and system combination for the US Gulf of Mexico market.”

The Dutch company, which has a local office in Houston, said it is committed to expanding its reach in the Americas. The company recently secured its first contract in Mexican waters, where another A-type system is enabling the installation of an oil and gas platform. It has also been operating in Trinidad & Tobago since 2010 and, as of a few years ago, in Brazil and Venezuela, too.
