Lundin has received consent from the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority to drill two exploration wells east of the Edvard Grieg field in the central North Sea.
PSA announced Wednesday it has given Lundin consent for exploration drilling and testing of wells 16/1-31 S and 16/1-31 A in production licence 338. Water depth at the site is around 111 meters.
Lundin Norway has a 65% stake and is operator for the production licence. Other partners include OMB Norge (20%) and Wintershall Norge (15%).
Exploration drilling is planned to begin in February 2019 and to last 83 days, including the options of a sidetrack and formation tests.
The well is to be drilled by Leiv Eiriksson, a SS Trosvik Bingo 9000 type semi-submersible drilling facility owned and operated by Transocean.
