Aker Solutions - Press Release
Tuesday, November 27, 2012

Aker Solutions plans to purchase Canadian asset integrity management (AIM) company Thurm Energy, the company announced on 22 November 2012.

The financial details were undisclosed; however, Aker said the acquisition will grow its AIM portfolio and boost its presence in the Atlantic Canada market.

'We already have a strong presence with the AIM services we offer to customers on the Norwegian and UK continental shelf,' said Tore Sjursen, head of maintenance, modifications and operations in Aker Solutions. 'With the acquisition of Thrum Energy we will increase our own competence as well as expand our offering to customers geographically.'

Asset integrity management in Aker Solutions includes maintenance engineering, integrity management and advanced inspection and monitoring solutions, spanning from early design throughout the lifetime of an asset. The service helps clients reduce risk and improve availability of their onshore and offshore assets.

The St. John's, Newfoundland, based Thurm Energy provides services for both onshore and offshore assets in Canada. Aker Solutions currently employs 40 people in St. John's. The company also maintains a presence in Calgary, Alberta.

The transaction is expected to close in Q4 2012.
