Surface logging company Empirica, a member of Reservoir Group, launched two new technologies that the company expects will trim significantly the time it takes to sample and view well data.

Dual Flame Ionised Detection (Dual FID) technology is a high-speed chromatograph, and Live Logging is a real-time cloudbased system that allows operators and geologists to interact with wells from any computer or device anywhere during the drilling process.

Dual FID’s 36-second chromatograph significantly improves on the current industry average of 45-65 seconds and provides 100 percent resolution between components, said the company, adding: ‘The high speed equates to more sampling per foot at a fast rate of penetration and can help differentiate laminated sands and low resistivity pay - allowing operators to make quicker decisions, saving time and money. ‘
