Offshore aluminium support system provider Alphastrut has been awarded a six figure contract with Det norske to provide raised access flooring on the Ivar Aasen Northern North Sea development.

The Alphastrut system will cover a total of 450sq m and was selected for its ability to offer a sub floor cable management system. Alphastrut is the only raised access flooring system in the world which allowed for the requirement of three layers of cable management, each separated by a 30mm gap, to aid air conditioning.

The system is being fabricated by SMOE in its Singapore yard and is expected to be integrated into the asset in Q1 2015.  As part of the deal, Alphastrut will also provide on call support and training.

David Lawson, managing director of Alphastrut, said: “Other similar support systems were not able to accommodate the layered space requirement and whilst other set ups could offer this space, such as a pedestal, they could not offer the cable management aspect. Alphastrut is unique in that it is able to provide both of these elements, offering the greatest percentage of free space.

“Alphastrut has already been installed in a number of North Sea assets and its global reach continues to grow. The potential weight and cost savings offered by the system are huge and we are confident that Alphastrut will fast become the go to support system for the offshore industry.”
