Drilling rig equipment manufacturer Bentec has been awarded three multi-million dollar contracts, including the firm’s first complete rig for the Caspian Sea offshore sector.

The Caspian rig contract is for Nobel Oil for work off the coast of Azerbaijan. The offshore drilling package will include Bentec’s recently launched 750-ton top drive and new 3000hp drawworks. The rig will be installed on an existing platform in early 2016.

Bentec, a division of UK-based drilling firm KCA Deutag, sold its first 500 ton top drive to an operator in the Caspian Sea in 2013. The latest contract is part of the firm’s move to provide more equipment to the offshore sector.

Bentec also secured contracts for three, 320-ton cluster slider land rigs for Russian joint stock company Samotlorneftepromkhim and 13, new generation TD-350-XT top drives to a Russian customer for onshore work. All of the units will be manufactured at the company’s German facility in Bad Bentheim and are scheduled to be delivered between May and October 2015.
