GAS gets Chirag survey gig

Italian geotechnical firm GAS has been appointed to perform survey and positioning support activities for the Chirag oil project offshore Azerbaijan. 

The work scope covers the laying of 8.33km of the 18in water injection pipeline and installation of tie-in spools in the Azeri Chirag and Gunashli (ACG) fields in the Caspian Sea, about 120km south east of capital Baku.

GAS will carry out pipelay support, prelay survey, as-laid survey, as-built survey and spools metrology.

The project will start in March 2016 and will take about four months.

The work was awarded as part of a frame agreement with Italian contractor Saipem.
