WGP Group has entered into a contract to provide long term seismic acquisition services to ConocoPhillips Skandinavia.

WGP will acquire seismic data sets on the Ekofisk field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The seismic acquisition contract has an initial five year term.

The Greater Ekofisk Area is in the southern Norwegian North Sea, 300km southwest of Stavanger. In addition to the Ekofisk field the area consists of the producing fields Eldfisk and Embla, both of which are part of production license (PL) 018. The Ekofisk production license is in block 2/4 in 70-80m water depth.

The total number of manned and unmanned installations that have been in operation in the Greater Ekofisk Area is close to 30. The oldest one is from 1973, the newest one started operation in 2015. Several of the installations are now ”cold”, i.e. they are no longer in use - and many have been removed and disposed.

At the same time the owners have invested in re-development - and the fields are prepared for the next 40 years.
