Norwegian seismic firm Polarcus has received a letter of award from TGS for the acquisition of 6172sq km of 3D seismic data in the Gulf of Mexico.

TGS announced earlier today (21 December) that the firm will begin the Alonso 3D survey in February 2018, covering portions of the Atwater Valley and Lloyd Ridge protraction areas of the US Gulf of Mexico.

Following this award, all active Polarcus vessels will be on contract in Q1 2018. In combination with the additional six contract announcements made earlier in Q4, the company has substantially improved visibility into 2018 with more than 70% of vessel capacity booked for H1 2018.

The survey will start in Q1 2018 and run for three months. The survey will be acquired using Polarcus' XArray multiple source acquisition method to deliver efficient and high quality broadband data.
