Technip wins GirRI EPIC

Technip has won an EPIC contract for the second phase of Total E&P Angola's Girassol Resoucres Iniatives (GirRI) project, the company announced on 13 November 2012.

Technip will provide project management, engineering, fabrication, installation and delivery of 21km of umbilicals and 13km of interconnecting power cable between the Dalia and Girassol FPSO. Technip will also recover and dispose of four rigid spools and install eight new flexible spools.

Project management will be handled by both Technip UK and Technip Angola Engenharia, a joint venture between Techip and Sonangol. Steel structures will be fabricated through the Angoflex spoolbase in Dande, Angola. The flexible spools will be manufactured in Le Trait, France. Offshore installation will begin by the end of 2014.

Girassol field is located in the Gulf of Guinea approximately 210km offshore Angola in water depths of 1,300m.

Total operates the deepwater field with 40% interest. Its partners include Statoil (23.33%), Esso (20%) and BP (16.67%).
