Subsidiaries of Saipem and JGC Corp. have won FEED contracts for Inpex's Abadi FLNG facility off Indonesia, Inpex announced on 23 January 2013.

PT Saipem Indonesia and PT JGC Indonesia will conduct the FLNG FEED in parallel under a design competition, Inpex said.

"In order to keep the project schedule and to ensure consistency of engineering technology applied, it is intended that one of the groups will continue into the FLNG EPC phase," Inpex said of the competition. "Therefore, it is envisioned that the FLNG EPC contract will be awarded to the group that provides technical and commercial superiority based on its overall design solution for the FLNG facility."

Production from the Abadi gas field is expected to yield 2.5MMtpa of LNG and 8,400 b/d of condensate.

Inpex Masela operates the Abadi gas field with 60% interest. Its partners include Shell Upstream Overseas Services (30%) and PT EMP Energi Indonesia (10%).
