Fugro announced that it has wholly-acquired Advanced Geomechanics Pty Ltd. (AG) to become part of its global geoconsultancy practice.
The nearly 20-year-old, Perth-based AG provides geotechnical and geophysical engineering and consulting services, and partnered with companies including Woodside, Chevron Australia, INTECSEA, Shell Development (Australia), and Technip Oceania in offshore projects. The majority of AG’s offshore projects are concentrated in Australia.
AG generated AU$30 million (US$27 million) of revenue in 2012.
AG recently designed the foundation for Woodside Energy’s Pluto LNG platform, located in the Carnarvon basin about 190km northwest of Karratha, Western Australia.
Fugro, based in The Netherlands, said that the acquisition will contribute to the development of geoconsultancy as a key element of further growth. The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of 2013.
On 22 Nov., Fugro announced that the DP2 geotechnical drilling vessel Fugro Voyager is entering service with Fugro’s offshore geotechnical division with the intent to expand its operations in the Asia Pacific frontier regions. Onboard equipment includes both downhole and seabed sampling and testing systems rated for 3000m water depth.
In September, Fugro sold its geoscience division to CGGVeritas, excluding the existing multiclient library and nodes businesses for €1.2 billion (US$1.6 billion).
