dGB opens office in Brazil

The company's open-source seismic interpretation platform, OpendTect, provides an enhanced footprint of the surveyed area, helping to decrease exploration risks. This represents a complete fit for complex geological regions.

Kristofer Tingdahl, CEO of dGB, commented, "This move is a harbinger that DGB is committed to offering Brazilian and South American oil and gas operators...a full seismic platform for the interpretation of multiple seismic data packages".

dGB Earth Sciences is a privately owned company established in the Netherlands and has been providing seismic interpretation solutions to the oil and gas industry since 1995. Founded by Paul de Groot and Bert Bril (dGB), it has since grown organically into an international software & service company.

Current customers include Addax, BG, DetNorske, Ecopetrol, ENI, Marathon, Petrobras, Petrochina, Saudi Aramco, Sinopec, Statoil, Talisman, and Wintershall among others.

dGB's flagship seismic interpretation solution, OpendTect, is the only available open-source seismic interpretation platform used in the oil & gas industry today, allowing visualization and interpretation of multi-volume seismic data. OpendTect, which is available at no cost under the GNU GPL license, provides sophisticated interactive attribute analysis.

dGB and its partners have also developed a wide variety of commercial plugins for customers (companies are also encouraged to develop their own customised plugins). These relate to attribute and processing analysis, sequence stratigraphy, fluid migration, rock property predictions, and velocity modelling. Partners who have developed commercial plugins of OpendTect include ARK CLS, ARKeX, Earthworks, Geokinetics and SITFAL. A full list of commercial plugins can be found at www.dgbes.com/
