Wood Group to design Snorre TLP

Wood Group Mustang has been awarded the pre-front-end engineering design (pre-FEED) contract by Statoil for the proposed Snorre C tension leg platform (TLP) to be located on the Norwegian continental shelf.

Work is being conducted by Wood Group Mustang and Wood Group Kenny and follows their completion of the feasibility phase of the project in 2013.

Wood Group Mustang is performing the pre-FEED study and is responsible for project management, topsides design, and integration of the hull, drilling and riser facilities. Wood Group Kenny is responsible for the engineering of the production, injection and drilling top tensioned risers, the import/export flexible and umbilical systems, and subsea drilling template.

Simon Harris, Wood Group Mustang's Offshore business unit manager for Europe, said"We are very excited to be involved in the Snorre C project. Wood Group Mustang has been involved in the design of half of the TLPs in operation around the world and we will use our knowledge and expertise to challenge the norm for North Sea platforms. We are pleased to be continuing our relationship with Statoil and assisting them to deliver a cost-efficient facility."

Wood Group has supported Statoil for more than 20 years. Other current projects for Statoil include Wood Group Kenny's detail design for the Edvard Grieg oil and gas export pipelines, and Wood Group Mustang's concept selection studies for the Krafla facility for the Norwegian continental shelf.

In addition, Wood Group Mustang is working on the Ivar Aasen topsides for Det Norske, which will also be located on the Norwegian continental shelf.
