Statoil gets approval for Sigrun East

Statoil has received consent from the Petroleum Safety Authority of Norway to drill exploration well 15/3-10 in a prospect named Sigrun East with the potential of a sidetrack well. 

The area where the well is to be drilled is around 180km west-south-west of Utsira in Rogaland and around 40km north of the Volve field. Water depth at the site is 107m.

The well is to be drilled by the Songa Trym mobile drilling facility. 

Drilling is scheduled to begin in the first part of October. Including the sidetrack, drilling will last a total of around 73 days.

Statoil is the operator of is the operator for exploration licenses 025 and 187.
