Ophir spuds deepwater Ivory Coast well

Ophir Energy has started drilling operations on the Ayamé-1X deepwater exploration well, offshore Ivory Coast, according to African Petroleum. 

Ophir is using Seadrill's West Saturn drillship for the well, on the CI-513 license. The well is targeting the Santonian and Turonian turbidite channel complexes in 2835m water depth, with planned total depth (TD) at 5459m

African Petroleum CEO Jens Pace said: “The Ayamé West prospect that we are targeting has a significant resource number and a commercial discovery will be truly transformational for African Petroleum.”
