Repsol's Norwegian subsidiary has set out plans to decommission its Rev field in the Norwegian North Sea.
The Rev field, in Production Licence 038C, Block 15/12 on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, comprises four seabed installations split into two separate areas, Rev West and Rev East.
While the Rev field is in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea, about 225km west of Stavanger, it's about 3km from the UK/Norway median line and the export pipeline and umbilical cross over into the UK Continental Shelf and connect to the Chrysaor-operated Armada installation (Block 22/05, central North Sea).
Rev was discovered in 2001, and production started in 2009, but is now intermittent, says Repsol, in a statement to the UK's Oil & Gas Authority, and Repsol and its partners are looking to cease production by 31 March 2020, at the latest, with decommissioning works expected to start in Q3 2021.
The facilities relating to the field in the UK sector comprise 4.8km or 12in gas condensate pipeline, and 4.9km of umbilical. Repsol is proposing to decommission the pipeline in-situ, i.e. bury it. While the umbilical would be removed.
