ConocoPhilliips extends Archer contract

ConocoPhillips has extended its contract Archer Ltd. for the provision of platform drilling services for the Greater Ekofisk Area.

The Greater Ekofisk Area is located in the southern part of the North Sea, 300km southwest of Stavanger. The water depth in the area is between 70 and 80m.

The contract extension will begin in June 2015 for five years, with an expiration date of June 30, 2020.

Ekofisk was Norway's first producing field and is one of the largest on the Norwegian continental shelf. 

ConocoPhillips Skandinavia is the operator for the Greater Ekofisk Area and holds an interest of 35.11% with other license owners Total E&P Norge (39.9%), Eni Norge (12.39%), Statoil Petroleum (7.6%) and Petoro (5%).

Archer currently operates 33 platforms in the North Sea and in Brazil, including the platforms for the Greater Ekofisk Area.
