Italian multinational corporation Prysmian Group said that it will provide ''Made in France'' cable technologies for the first large-scale French offshore wind farm.

The energy and telecom cable systems company in its press release did not name the project, but rather said that the wind farm is being developed by the French company EDF Renewables and Canada's Enbridge.

“We are proud to have the opportunity to play our role in the development of such a strategic infrastructure for our country, by making available the best “Made in France” cable technology,” declared Laurent Tardif, CEO South Europe Prysmian Group, on the occasion of the visit of the EDF Renewables’ Offshore Projects team representatives at Prysmian’s centers of excellence in Montereau and Gron.

The Montereau center of excellence, with more than 1,150 employees, manufactures 800 km/year of HV and EHV cables, supplying important French and international customers such as EDF Renewables, RTE, Vinci and Elia. This plant specializes in the production of HVAC cables and accessories up to 500 kV and HVDC cables and accessories up to 525 kV.

The centre of Gron, which employs more than 300 people, stands out for its excellent offer of MV cables and accessories worldwide and it manufactures around 1000 km/year of HV and EHV cables up to 500 kV.

“The development of more reliable and capable grid infrastructures for power transmission and distribution is key for the utilization of renewables. With the French projects, Prysmian Group is confirming its undisputed know-how, proving its capability for innovation and supporting the energy transition to smarter and greener power grids.” stated Raul Gil, VP Submarine Business Unit, Prysmian Group.
