The Binh Minh 2 vessel completed a 3146km 2D seismic acquisition program in the Santos-operated SS-11 block, offshore Bangladesh.

Block SS-11 covers an area of 4475sq km in the Bay of Bengal over the Bengal Fan.

The majority of the block lies in shallow waters of up to 200m. The 22-day program was conducted by CGG Services SA.

“The existing 2D data sets were acquired in the mid-1970s and this program will provide higher resolution data to confirm existing prospects and leads and assess the overall prospectivity of the block,” says Chris Gibson-Robinson, KrisEnergy director E&P. “It will also help us determine potential locations for a planned 3D seismic program, to which we are committed under the work program obligations.”

Santos is the operator of SS-11 with 45%. KrisEnergy (Asia) Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of KrisEnergy, holds 45% and Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration & Production holds the remaining 10%.
