BP's massive newbuild Glen Lyon floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel has arrived in Haugesund, Norway, for final commissioning work before heading west of Shetland on the UK Continental Shelf.
The 270m-long vessel will be the largest FPSO to dock at the Aibel Haugesund yard, where works are due to be carried out over about two months.
The vessel is due to be be installed over the Schiehallion and Loyal fields, where it replaces the former Schiehallion FPSO, under BP's Quad 204 redevelopment project.
At Aibel, the vessel will undergo various marine operations and fabrication activities. Aibel will also assist BP with a function test of a mechanical winch, and will be making yard facilities and services available.
"We are really looking forward to welcoming Glen Lyon to Haugesund. The FPSO will arrive at the same time as we are stepping up the activity in the Johan Sverdrup project. The scene is set for an exciting spring with a high activity level at the yard," says EVP Yard Haugesund, Bjørn Tollefsen.
