An Aberdeen-based energy industry service company has become the first rental business in the UK to obtain vital safety accreditation for important offshore testing equipment.

Pressure Test Solutions Ltd (PTS) has achieved ATEX certification for its fleet of rental test pumps which are a key part of offshore testing programs.

ATEX is the name commonly given to the two European directives for controlling explosive atmospheres. PTS’ rental fleet of test pumps are now fully compliant with the directives, and the business has worked with approval bodies for the last 12 months to reach the required standard.

Gary Notman, managing director of PTS, believes the certification will give the company a competitive advantage in the rental market.

Established in 2008, the PTS specializes in rental, sales and calibration of equipment to the energy industry from its base in Denmore Industrial Estate, Bridge of Don.

The company focuses on five key niche specialist areas: Pressure test equipment and instrumentation rental; hazardous area equipment rental; radio communications equipment; flushing units, and the supply of hydraulic and pneumatic products.
