Aker BP, the oil exploration and development company focusing petroleum resources on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, has exercised the first one-year option for Odfjel Drilling’s Deepsea Nordkapp semi-submersible drilling rig.
According to a press note from Odfjell Drilling, the Norway-based oil drilling, well service, and engineering company, both companies originally entered the drilling contract in April 2018.
The first 12 month option shall commence after expiry of the two year firm period in May 2021, it said.
The approximate contract value for the firm scope is USD 128 million (excluding any integrated services). In addition, a performance bonus will be applicable.

The 2019-built semi-submersible rig Deepsea Nordkapp is a 6th generation dynamically positioned harsh environment and winterized semi-submersible of Moss enhanced CS 60E design.
The rig is equipped for ATA mooring from 100 meters – 500 meters, and can operate in DP mode in 300 m – 2000m water.
