New fluids system for MWCC

OceanWorks International delivered a subsea dispersant fluid system (SDFS) to Marine Well Containment Company (MWCC). The system will be an integral part of the emergency response tool kit for a well control incident in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico.

The SDFS system supports dispersant supply from the surface as well as autonomously from the seabed. To reduce vessel crowding at the intervention site, the SDFS system delivers dispersant from more than one mile away from the incident site. The system can function autonomously for up to five days without intervention.

The system utilizes a series of individual modules including twelve dispersant bladder skids (previously delivered to MWCC by OceanWorks), two gathering manifolds, three autonomous pumping stations, two intermediate manifolds, and two mixing chambers to inject dispersant at the subsea containment assembly.

The SDFS will upgrade the existing subsea autonomous dispersant injection (SADI) system currently employed by MWCC. It is a custom design based on learnings from the initial SADI and the evolving understanding of the functional and operational requirements.

OceanWorks International is a subsea solution engineering company, providing more than 20 years of service to the oil and gas, military, scientific, and nvironmental markets.
