Managing director of Keppel Offshore & Marine, Michael Chia Hock Chye, has joined KrisEnergy’s board of directors as a non- executive director effective 13 May 2016. Chia has also been appointed as a member of the audit committee and nominating committee.

Choo Chiau Beng and Brooks Shughart, both non-executive directors since 2012, will step down from the Board with immediate effect, reducing the number of directors from 13 to 12.

“[Chia] has spent his career in the offshore and marine industry and we are delighted to welcome him to the board,” said Will Honeybourne, non-executive chairman of KrisEnergy. “These remain challenging times for the upstream oil and gas sector and we look forward to benefiting from [Chia’s] business perspectives and judgement.”

Chia, 63, has a bachelor of science in naval architecture and marine engineering from University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, UK, is managing director (Marine and Technology) of Keppel Offshore & Marine and managing director of Keppel Offshore & Marine Technology Centre. He began his career in Keppel FELS in 1980 and held several appointments in yard management, corporate planning, marketing and commercial and general manager operations. He was executive director of Keppel FELS from 2002-2009, CEO of Keppel Integrated Engineering from 2009-2010, deputy chairman of Keppel Integrated Engineering Ltd from 2009-2011 and director, group strategy and development of Keppel Corp. between 2011-2013.

Following the latest changes, KrisEnergy’s board comprises three executive directors, three non-executive directors and six independent directors.
