Shell Australia is taking safety to new heights with its new helicopter operated by CHC, to help with any rescue efforts needed offshore Australia.
In this video, Shell shows a training run of new helicopter with a trained rescue crew on board that will soon help service the Prelude FLNG facility.
The Prelude FLNG will operate in a remote basin around 200km off Australia’s northwest coast, for approximately 25 years. When fully loaded, it will weigh more than 600,000-tonne. It will produce about 3.6 mpta of LNG to help meet rising global demand for cleaner energy.
The HC225 helicopter is one of the most advanced search and rescue helicopters in the world according to Shell. It was manufactured by France’s Airbus and is operated by CHC.
The rescue service will be able to respond to the region’s extreme conditions including category five cyclones and is able to find a person to up to 30km away.
Will also support to the local community in North and Western Australia.
